What’s Your Right Cue Length?
When I purchased my first pool cue I had been shooting for a while with a cue a friend had loaned me. It was a Lucasi and I loved it. So when I went shopping for my first cue I went in with an open mind willing to go with whatever cue felt good. And low and behold; in the blind taste test, I picked another Lucasi. 😊
It took a while to adjust since every cue is different. Even though I was in love with the weight, the look, the feel and the grip something still felt off —the cue length.
I started researching cue lengths
I started researching cue lengths and all the charts stated a height of 5’8”-6’4” needed the normal cue length of 58”. But as in life, pool is no exception, it ultimately comes down to what feels good and is most natural to the shooter. At 5’10” it turns out I feel more comfortable with a longer cue.
I tried extending my cue
I tried extending my cue with an extension that connects to the butt of my cue but it added so much extra weight that I was missing a lot of shots. I didn’t want to buy a new cue just to get the length. It wasn’t until months later I discovered a solution.
How did I successfully extend my cue?
Rewind to Christmas of 2021 when I opened a tiny little box from my husband that contained a Balance Rite Forward Weighted Extension. (I know. Be still my heart. The man knows me.) This extension nests between the shaft and butt of your cue not at the end. Thus, giving you added length without having to adjust your stroke to added weight at the back of your cue. If you’re considering this option you will need to order the correct connector for your brand of cue.
So, wondering what I think? I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! I’ve been shooting with it from day one every single day and it’s been a total game changer for me. I highly recommend.
